Why we do what we do

If you are searching for the best business simulations to use, then you probably already know that there is a ton of research which proves that simulation-based learning is by far the most effective tool to deliver learning as well as ensure the retention of that learning. You’ve probably also noticed that most business simulation designers offer only computer or online simulations.

So why have we chosen not to follow the crowd?

It’s simple, after more than 35 years of studying how people learn and trying different methods of delivery in order to maximize learning and retention, we have formulated the ultimate learning recipe…

Our methodology has been derived from pulling the best parts from aged-old learning theories. From the discoveries made by Pavlov with his ‘classical conditioning’ theory back in the 1800’s to more modern discoveries on Brain-Based Learning (BBL) and Game-Based Learning (GBL), we apply all these principles when designing our business simulations.

During a typical course, participants are assigned to teams, which manage their own company and compete with other teams for market share and best performance. Each participant of the team takes on a role in the business which they are responsible for. Following a realistic business process which is aligned to their industry and company value chain, participants make all the decisions which they would typically confront during business operations. Teams run a number of business cycles between which various analyses are drafted and financial records compiled. The financial records used in the simulation are customized to use the company’s own financial terminology and formats.

Throughout the program, the decisions made and the learnings derived during the simulation are related to the participants’ actual working situation so immediate relevance is established.
